Common misconception. The AJ-V6 is very different from the Duratec it grew out of, and the Lincoln LS, which is closer to the Jag than the Mondeo, was Ford’s attempt to recoup the money they spent letting crazy Limeys make a V8 from scratch.

Plus, only manual Jag in 50-is years.

95% sure. I get distracted here and there by super clean E39M5's, and a slew of other BMW’s from that vintage and earlier. However, I’m trying to stay focused as I drove a really bad 997 and still loved it.

The hatchback is much better looking than the saloon.

But I’d take the three door over the five door even if the three door is only available in A3 and S3 spec and not RS3.

S3, 306bhp, 2.0TFSi manual.

Yes, it’s not the 395bhp, 2.5TFSi. But that is auto only where the S3 has a manual option.

I think he means the platform, not the engine.

I had vain hopes that meant the second generation Mondeo would be offered with a downgraded version of the X-Type AWD system (when asked, a Ford engineer had told me “watch this space”) but ‘twas not to be.

Plus, only manual Jag in 50-is years.

I like the lower front valance of the 2014 RS3, but the 2018 S3 doesn’t look bad, just the more modern face of the car.
